In addition to editing the publication Ivey contributed an essay 'Exploring the Interface: Facilitating a Concept of Enquiry' (p.43-45) questioning the value of group workshop activity and established perceptions of the central role of facilitator as a research mechanism in The Creative Industries, concluding by recognising the importance of 'leading by listening' and the value of play as a way of refreshing participant involvement. The publication was characterised by an intended brevity and clarity to ensure widespread dissemination to the academic community, Government and The Creative Industries. Free access to the full papers, via the website ensured the widest possible circulation. Ivey was an invited consultant on the international panel for the development of a Doctor of Design at Auckland University of Technology, New Zealand which proposed D. Des aimed to function as part of a national strategy to develop the PhD in design beyond an academic context, positioning it to interface with practice based research and industry to deliver innovation and competitiveness to New Zealand companies and products. The publication was viewed as significant by the Scottish Parliament.",
