High power Yb:KGW and Yb:KYW thin disk laser operation

Abstract

Analysis of high power Yb:KYW and Yb:KGW thin disk laser operation was presented. The thin disk lasers were investigated at high CW output powers both in fundamental mode and multimode operation. Using 10 at.%-doped Yb:KYW laser, maximum output power was 72 W at 1030 nm with optical efficiency of 60% which was higher than the efficiency that was achieved with Yb:YAG at room temperature.
